Rainbow Children Home Nepal is an NGO officially registered in 2007 with the Social Welfare Council and various other government agencies. In the last 12 years, we have changed the lives of more than 80 children by providing them residence, guaranteeing food, medical attention and helping them build a solid foundation for their academic and professional carriers while also helping 40 more with education opportunities and respond with drastic measures during drastic times.

This year has been even more special as it was the year most of the first generation of children we brought to the family 13 years ago were rehabilitated back to their families. In the 13 years the total number of beneficiaries have been more than 150 children with most of them not staying till high school due to such things as improvement of financials their family or relatives to be able to support them.

An absolute poverty is dreadful disease that lasts through generations and we are dedicated to helping the children under our responsibility to be independent as well as come out from the sickness, once and for all.

Also, we have played crucial role to help humanity during catastrophic times. During the Earthquake in 2015 we made visits to different villages near the epicenter areas more than 15 times. In addition, we also reconstructed the Goganpani Health Centre in Dhading district which was turned to rubble in the first tremor. Similarly, many times we have made visits to many parts of Nepal to taking relief, tents, food and clothes to poor people, stationary to children in rural parts, help pregnant mothers and infants during catastrophes, take medicines and conduct health camps. Our visit to Bara-Parsa is one of such examples when amid a crisis we just took on charge to take what we can and help right away.

Goma Dhakal, our director leads us with her lifetime of dedication to society. Before she founded RCH-N, she had served leading different social organizations voluntarily for 26 years and had made a big impact locally and nationally. Fighting for justice of abused women, arranging settlement of children in critical situation (eg child rescued or lost both parents in accidents), opening up new advocacy groups, fighting against social crimes, volunteering in different NGOs work with children, women, drug abuse, creating day care centers etc., she’s had a high level of experience in delivering social service. Even now she is a growing and inspiring social entrepreneur and a real impact making role model leader for the society here in Pokhara.

Concerning the sustainability of the organization, last year we were able to purchase 1 acre of land in Pame for use in agriculture. The fund was separately received from our Italian partners (Versanti and Caritas) for the purpose of buying land and no part of children sponsor money was used for the purpose. We also reconstructed a new kitchen (just one floor, not the whole building) in ground floor for the children as well as repaired the girls building but again we had received funds from the same organizations so no part of children sponsorship money was ever used for the purpose also.
