Welcome to Rainbow Children Home Nepal – nurturing underprivileged children with love, care, and opportunities for a brighter future.
In the last 13 years, Rainbow Children Home Nepal has changed the lives of more than 80 children by providing them residence, guaranteeing food, medical attention and helping them build a solid foundation for their academic and professional careers. RCH has also helped a further 40 children with educational opportunities. All our children attend the National Inventive English Boarding School or public school, most for the first time in their lives. They are making remarkable academic progress, with some of the children who have never attended school before.
The employment of a full time teacher has not only assisted the children in adjusting to school life, it has also helped with their interaction between each other and other people. Our teacher is responsible for the discipline of the children, as well as teaching them new games and basic life skills such as gardening and cleaning. Having come from such adverse, and often isolated backgrounds, many of the children upon arrival at Rainbow Children Home were unaccustomed to being exposed to unknown people and did not know how to behave in an appropriate way. The children now love meeting new people and welcome them with open arms, often insisting that they join in with their latest game. They have also been taught about personal hygiene which has improved both their appearance and their general health.
2019 saw most of the first generation of children brought to the family 13 years ago, rehabilitated back with their families. In the 13 years the total number of beneficiaries have been more than 150 children with most of them not needing to stay with us beyond Primary school due to such things as the improvement of the financial situation of their family or relatives being able to take on the support and care of them.
Rainbow Children Home has also played crucial roles in helping humanity during catastrophic times. During the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015, we made more than 15 visits to different villages near the epicenter areas to assist. In addition, we reconstructed the Goganpani Health Centre in the Dhading district, which was turned to rubble in the first tremor. Similarly, many times we have made visits to many parts of Nepal, providing relief, tents, food and clothes to impoverished people, stationary to children in rural parts, offering help to pregnant mothers and infants during catastrophes, taking medicine and conducting health camps. Our visit to Bara-Parsa is one of such example when amid a crisis we took charge to provide what we can and help right away.
Concerning the sustainability of the organization, in 2018 we were able to purchase 1 acre of land in Pame for agricultural use. We also reconstructed a new kitchen on the ground floor of our home for the children, as well as repaired the girls’ building.
The extraordinary progress of these children demonstrates the natural capability and intelligence that they possess and which can be fostered if given the opportunity.
A well established NGO in operation for 13 years, Rainbow Children Home Nepal is dedicated to providing care and a safe environment to orphaned, impoverished and marginalized children of Nepal.
